The Law of Appreciation and Activating it in Your Life

I don’t tell many people this story, because it can be beyond what many can grasp—but one of the reasons why we have profound experiences is so we can then inspire others or at least open them to new possibilities.

I activated the law of appreciation in my life quite by accident. I had been travelling the world alone for almost a year and having many wonderful experiences, but nothing quite as intense as what I was about to experience.

There is a famous mountain in Yosemite National Park in California called Half Dome. I set off to climb it one morning. The guide said that it was a 10-12 hour climb up and down as I seem to remember, so I set off fairly early.

After about an hour and a half of hauling myself up some steep gradients I came a cross a giant red wood tree. I had just come from Seqouia National Park which boasts the largest giant red woods in the world, so this tree was not impressive in that regard.

I stopped in my tracks as I became mesmerised by this tree. I noticed a deep sense of appreciation come over me as I stared at the tree. I felt every cell in my body fill with appreciation for this tree.

After a while I became aware that the landscape had changed. I took my eyes from the tree and looked over the vast landscape of mountains and forest which made up the park.

Everything was glowing, the trees, the mountains, the sky and the colours much deeper than I was used to. It was as visually different as watching an old black and white TV from 50 years ago and then switching to an HD wide screen today.

I stood there in awe for I don’t know how long and then something amazing happened. The abundant glowing energy that I was seeing all around me suddenly connected into me and it seemed to flow in through my stomach area and nourish every cell in my body.

The energy was so much that I started to vibrate, like a space rocket about to take off. At the time I did not know what to do with this energy so I decided to run! I hadn’t been for a run for more than a year so my fitness was low, but that did not seem to matter!

I ran the whole way up the rest of the mountain and then spent 30 minutes on the peak in a state of bliss. I was still full of energy so I decided to run back down. Some people who were walking up shouted for me to slow down as it was dangerous to run down, but my senses were heightened and I felt safe.

Nearing the bottom, an older gentleman who I ran past decided to see if he could keep with me, but my pace was too quick. By the time I had reached the bottom, the energy that I received had all but dissipated and so I started to stretch off in case of cramp.

The man who chased after me eventually appeared and was amazed by my pace. I told him that it had taken me less than 3 and a half hours, including my time at the top. He then told me that he had been climbing Half Dome for over 30 years and he had never heard of anyone going up and down that quick.

He then remarked that my face was pure white, which it was, with salt. Something I had never experienced before either. It was an incredible experience, one that I haven’t up until this point replicated to the same degree, but I do know that appreciation was the catalyst for it.

Appreciation is a choice and immense benefits can be experienced from practicing it. Take some time today to write down as many things as you can think of that you are appreciative for. Aim to write down 100 things that you are appreciative for in your life right now and watch some magic happen.

Todays power question: “What can I appreciate about this that I am not getting!” (This is a great question to ask when we feel a resistance to appreciation)

Todays power statement: “The more appreciation I have the more energy I have to do all things I wish to do.”

With appreciation,
